The Sunday reset

An hour on Sunday, spent on the coming week rather than against it, makes the mornings cheaper. Set the flowers, wash the jar, and lay out the mat.

Prepare visible things

Refresh the water in the vases, wash the jars, and put the yoga mat where the morning hand will find it. Visible preparation turns intention into arrangement, and Monday honours arrangements more than promises.

Write the week’s fixed commitments on one card and leave the ambitions off it. A card with three lines is a plan; a card with ten is a mood.

Leave room on purpose

Finish the hour with something pleasant and unfinished, such as a walk without a destination or tea taken slowly after a long stretch. The pause is not a reward for the reset; it is part of it.

Relaxation practised deliberately once a week teaches the body the route, so that shorter pauses on weekdays find their way by themselves. The reset serves the week precisely because it does not fill the day.
